Climbing ropes are made from natural hemp (a soft natural fibre which minimises the risk of burns) and with 4 strands for good grip.
These are available in 16mm, 18mm, 28mm or 36mm diameter (2", 2 1/4", 3 1/2" or 4 1/2" circumference) and as standard come 12' (3657mm) long. For alternative lengths required add the additional amount per foot.
Climbing ropes are available fitted with a steel shackle on the top end (for Niels Larsen top tubes, steel rope frames and rope tracks) or fitted with a 4" spliced eye (for Cave climbing frame or rope frame top tubes). The other end is sealed to prevent unravelling with a heatshrink cover.
Standard climbing ropes are:
- 2m x 16mm diameter with spliced eye top
- 2m x 18mm diameter (3 strand) with 2 knots and spliced eye top (standard size for climbing ropes on the Foldaway (Y) frame)
- 3657mm (12') x 28mm diameter with 4" spliced eye top
- 3657mm (12') x 28mm diameter with shackled top
- 3657mm (12') x 36mm diameter with 4" spliced eye top
- 3657mm (12') x 36mm diameter with shackled top
- 3657mm (12') x 32mm diameter (treated Manila 3 strand) with 4" spliced eye top (for external use)
