Gym mats, agility mats, PE mats

We supply gym mats for gymnastics and PE, floor mats and agility mats, linking mats, judo mats, crash mats and landing areas. Mats are graded for types of exercise. For technical information on mats see bottom of the page.

Deluxe gym mats
Deluxe gym mats have a 9lb chip foam core, bonded blue PVC cover with welded corners, a latex anti-slip base and are flame retardant (0&5 composite test). These are type 1 mats and are ideal for floor work, PE and gymnastics. They are available in the following sizes.

Deluxe agility mats
Deluxe agility mats have a 9lb chip foam core, bonded blue PVC cover with welded corners, a latex anti-slip base and are flame retardant (0&5 composite test). These are type 2 mats and are ideal for floor work, PE and gymnastics. Longer mats (10' and above) can be used for creating floor areas and runways. Long mats can be supplied with a tie strap to hold them in a roll when stored. They are available in the following sizes.

Deluxe blend mats
Blended gym mats have a special foam core which is in 2 layers, the top layer being 9lb chipfoam to provide a soft feel and the lower half being the stiffer but lighter polyethylene foam. This makes the mat more rigid and approximately 3/4 the weight of the chipfoam equivalent so they are easier to store and do not collapse when stored in a vertical mat trolley. The chipfoam top layer also gives the soft feel of the chipfoam mat. These are type 1 mats and are ideal for floor work, PE and gymnastics.

Deluxe light mats
Deluxe lightweight gym mats have red PVC covers and a polyethylene foam core making the mats approximately half the weight of the deluxe gym mat equivalent and much easier to store due to their weight and rigidity (they do not collapse when stored in a vertical mat trolley). The polyethylene foam also gives a slightly harder feel with less rolling resistance. These mats are flame retardant (0&3 composite tests) and are type 1 mats, ideal for floor work, PE and gymnastics.

Deluxe light link mats
Deluxe lightweight linking gym mats have blue PVC covers and polyethylene foam core making the mats approximately half the weight of the deluxe gym mat equivalent although with a slightly harder feel. These mats have a 1" velcro strip bonded to each edge to allow the mats to be linked to form a large padded area for gymnastics and floor work. These mats are easy to store due to their weight and rigidity as they will not curl up when stored vertically. These mats are flame retardant (0&3 composite tests) and are type 1 mats, ideal for floor work, PE and gymnastics.

Panelite gym mats
Panelite gym mats are a lightweight mat ideal for tumbling, wrestling, judo practice or individual stretch mats. Mats are fully stitched all round with no glue joins so are exceptionally durable. The mat covering is a tough, washable, tear resistant, flame retardant nylon backed PVC with an anti-slip base for good grip on most surfaces. The infill is 33kg/m3 density, closed cell, cross linked expanded polyethelene foam making these mats exceptionally light and durable and giving excellent shock absorption. Mats are easy to store vertically or horizontally. Standard colour is blue but other colours are available on request. Panelite mats are also available with velcro type fastening and folding for easy storage.

Panelite folding mats are a lightweight mat ideal for tumbling, wrestling, judo practice or individual stretch mats. Mats are fully stitched all round with no glue joins so are exceptionally durable. The mat covering is a tough, washable, tear resistant, flame retardant nylon backed PVC with an anti-slip base for good grip on most surfaces. The infill is 33kg/m3 density, closed cell, cross linked expanded polyethelene foam making these mats exceptionally light and durable and giving excellent shock absorption. Folding mats have a seam in the centre and can be folded to half their size for easy storage. Standard mat colour is blue but other colours are available on request. Panelite P.E. and tumbling mats.
Panelite PE mats are a lightweight mat ideal for tumbling, wrestling, judo practice or individual stretch mats. Mats are fully stitched all round with no glue joins so are exceptionally durable. The mat covering is a tough, washable, tear resistant, flame retardant nylon backed PVC with an anti-slip base for good grip on most surfaces. The infill is 33kg/m3 density, closed cell, cross linked expanded polyethelene foam making these mats exceptionally light and durable and giving excellent shock absorption. Area mats include heavy duty 2" wide velcro type fastening sewn into the mat cover on all 4 sides to enable the mats to be joined to form a complete floor area. Folding mats are made of panels sewn together and can be folded several ways for easy storage. Standard mat colour is blue but other colours are available on request or these can be supplied in a multi-colour form.

Flexi gym mat
Flexi gym mats can be draped over apparatus to provide safe padding. Mats have a green fabric surface providing good grip with an extremely flexible vulcanised rubber cell backing bonded to the underside. The rubber cells trap air providing excellent shock absorption and the mats can be stacked to provide a resilient landing area.

Mats are graded depending on their resilience for the following applications.

TYPE 1 - for floor exercise, without jumping
TYPE 2 - for floor exercise, with jumping
TYPE 3 - for floor exercise with jumping and landing

We supply 3 main types of mat with different constructions

1 Chip foam mats (eg Deluxe) - these are made from a chipfoam which gives a soft feel and are then covered with a cotton backed PVC material and backed with latex for good grip on the floor. These mats are flexible and need to be stored carefully without bending to prevent the top cover becoming damaged.

2 Lightweight mats (eg Deluxe light) - these are a similar construction to the chip foam mats but with polyethylene lightweight foam instead. These mats feel slightly harder, will stand on edge without buckling so are much easier to store well and are approximately half the weight of the chipfoam equivalent. Because they are lighter they may slide on worn floors.

3 Linking mats (eg Deluxe Light Link) - these are an identical in construction to the lightweight mats but have a 1" wide strip of velcro bonded to the edges so they can be linked to cover a large area.

4 Duflex mats (eg Super Deluxe) - these mats have a unique PVC foam centre for excellent shock absorbency with a PVC cover, reinforced corners and integral high grip base welded to the foam. With no glue joints to split these mats are exceptionally durable and the foam is softer and achieves better shock absorbency and a higher rating than the chipfoam equivalent.

5 Duflex light mats (eg Super Deluxe Light) - these are a similar construction to the Duflex mats but with a lightweight foam core in the middle of the foam. This leaves the standard foam (which is softer) on the top and bottom of the mat resulting in a lightweight mat with almost the same soft feel of the standard mat.

6 Sewn mats (eg Panelite mats) - these are a lightweight polyethylene foam sewn mat (with no glued edges) and are covered with a PVC coated nylon backed fabric and waffle type base. This fabric is much harder wearing and with no glued edges to break these mats are probably the most durable. The mats have a 2" wide velcro strip sewn into the edges so can be linked securely to form a larger floor area. The mats can also be supplied folding.

7 Flexi mats - these have a cellular rubber cell backing bonded to a green fabric surface. These are very flexible and have a very grippy base so are ideal for going over equipment or odd shapes.

Mats need to be stored well to prevent them wearing out quickly. The corners and non slip bases are easily damaged by dragging over the floor so it is important to have a trolley which is easy to move. Mats are best stored flat so they don't buckle but if that is not possible then a semi inclined trolley (see our mat storage trolleys) is best for the chipfoam and non lightweight mats as this keeps them flat but in a nearly vertical position for compact storage.
